We are proud to announce that SERMA Technologies has been accredited by COFRAC for the R100 battery tests and Search for and identification of foreign bodies in all types of materials services.

This new accreditation will enable us to strengthen our expertise in batteries and surface analysis, and guarantee a recognised quality of service.

R100 battery tests carried out by the Energy & Renewables business unit (scope no. 1-7191 available at www.cofrac.fr).

The COFRAC-accredited tests cover 5 types of battery safety and performance tests based on the ECE R100 automotive standard:

  • Annex 8F: External short-circuit test on batteries > Checking short-circuit protection performance and functionality
  • Annex 8G: Battery overload test > Checking overload protection performance and functionality
  • Annex 8H: Excessive discharge test on battery > Checking performance and functionality of protection against excessive discharge
  • Annex 8 – Appendix 1: Standard cycle test > Check of operating performance after one of the following tests 8F/8G/8H
  • Annex 4B – Method 1.1: Measurement of insulation resistance > Checking the insulation resistance for batteries subjected to tests 8F/8G/8H

Search and identification of foreign bodies of any type of materials by SEM/EDS and/or FTIR mapping and/or Optical Microscope carried out by our Surface Analysis Laboratory (scope no. 1-7192 available on www.cofrac.fr).

The accredited methods are performed using the following analytical means:

  • Our KEYENCE VHX 5000 optical microscope
  • Our ESEM FEI Quanta 250 FEG scanning electron microscope (SEM) equipped with a Bruker EDS detector
  • Our FTIR infrared microscope – PERKIN ELMER Microscope Spotlight 400 with ATR-Imaging
