Located in Neuville-aux-Bois, in central France, the new facility will be fully dedicated to abuse testing and safety assessments of high-capacity battery (up to 150 kWh). It will also enable full-vehicle level testing.
This ambitious project marks a major milestone for SERMA, as the company continues the dynamic expansion of its energy division and strengthens its position as a global leader in battery testing.
Construction is moving forward rapidly: the site will be partially operational by the end of July, with full completion expected by the end of August.
The Neuville-aux-Bois test center will feature:
- Specialized equipment for thermal runaway testing (nail, heating pad, overcharge..)
- A wide range of abuse tests: drop, crush, short-circuit, overcharge, overcurrent, overheating, thermal shock, immersion, and more…
- Compliance with international standards such as UN38.3, ECE R100, KMVSS, GB, as well as custom testing protocols
- A system for recovering and treating emitted gases and fumes
SERMA Group now has over 20,000 m² dedicated to testing for green mobility.
This new facility dedicated to abuse testing for battery is a key step in supporting the energy transition and the industrial ambitions of our clients in France and across Europe.
In 2025, two new test centers were also inaugurated: - In the Bordeaux region, in Martillac – a 6,500 m² facility in partnership with ACC
- At the Lardy Technical Center – a 3,500 m² facility in partnership with Renault Group
