To determine if lots contain physically defective parts due to incorrect manufacturing process (internal wires weakness, corrosion, voids in the die attach...) or due to incorrect storage conditions (leads oxidation, plastic package delamination, ESD damage...) This includes "Quality + Functional Electrical Tests" which help to detect electrically defective parts (overstress on die, electrical failure...).
